A police officer and a final year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a first-year student.
The victim, age 21, claims the final-year student enticed her to his dorm in Evandy, Bomso by claiming he wanted to offer her female clothing to sell so they could split the proceeds afterwards.
One of the two suspects has been identified as Frank Adu Poku, a police officer. The suspects are said to have recorded the incident on video. The incident is alleged to have occurred on Wednesday, July 20.
The police officer is being held in police custody at Apiadu Police Station while the accomplice was also being held in jail at KNUST Police Station.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) gave the two suspects a transfer to the regional command for additional investigation after they had been in jail for almost a week. A report has been issued on the incident
