If you want to learn to play an instrument, or you want to learn how to paint or you even want to learn how to make a website, chances are that you can. Everyone’s go-to for learning a new skill is usually YouTube, but not everyone is able to get what they want out of it. These are some of the common mistakes that people make when they’re learning on YouTube.

They Don’t Choose The Right Videos

One of the great things about YouTube is that you get to choose the video and therefore the teacher. Just because a video has a lot of likes and views doesn’t mean that it’s the right one for you. Scan through multiple videos when you’re trying to learn something and pick the one that is the best fit for you.

They Pick Different Things From Different Videos And Piece Them Together

When you’re learning something on YouTube, for example how to play the piano, it’s usually not a good idea to pick different things and learn those things from different creators. Most people who teach on YouTube create playlist that are group videos by theme and make sure that you’re able to learn everything that you need to in one place.

They Watch Videos, And Then Try To Replicate Later

You can’t learn the skills that people have just by watching those people do those things. Instead of watching a video and then trying to replicate it later you should instead try to do as you learn. Just watching the videos will make you overestimate how much you’re actually learning. You can’t learn that new dance by just watching videos of people doing it.
