5 Foods That Can Induce Menstruation

December is already here and with all the amazing concerts and hangouts that are coming up, no one wants to be left alone in their bed because of period cramps, unless you are broke.

Maybe you have a date with a special someone and because your house witches wear metal helmet, your calendar seems to be lining up along the same date. If you have been gnashing for years now and this is your final chance to find love, or you have been dealing with irregular periods, here are 5 natural foods that can induce your period.

1. Vitamin C Foods.

Vitamin-C rich foods can be beneficial for inducing menstruation. Pawpaw for instance, is a fruit which consists carotene-that can stimulate oestrogen hormone. Other Vitamin-c rich fruits include oranges, lemon and mangoes. Eating them regularly can reduce irregularities in periods and even prepone them.

2. Ginger.

Ginger is a known emmenagogue. Emmenagogues are herbs which stimulate blood flow in the pelvic area and uterus. You can have grated ginger with a tsp of honey to induce periods.

3. Beetroot.

Beetroot contains iron, calcium and folic acid, etc. This vegetable can reduce water retention and bloating, an effect of PMS and periods most women commonly experience.

4. Aloe vera.

Aloe vera is a super plant that helps with almost anything. It helps in controlling and managing your hormones, which in turn, regulates your periods. Not sure about the taste? All you need to do is mix one teaspoon of honey with fresh aloe vera gel and have it every day before your breakfast.

5. Turmeric.

Turmeric is also an emmenagogue. It’s supposed to work by affecting oestrogen and progesterone levels. You can add it to curries, rice, or vegetable dishes. Or you can add it to water or milk with other spices and sweeteners for a warming drink.
