The alumni and students of the Department of Geography and Resource Development at the University of Ghana, Legon have donated a bus to their Department.
The Head of Department, Prof. Kwadwo Owusu, who received the key to the bus on behalf of the Department, stated that the procurement of the bus was borne out of an initiative led by the former Head of Department; now Acting Provost of the College of Education, Prof. Martin Oteng-Ababio. Prof. Owusu added that the bus donation was timely as it would enhance students’ field trips.
In brief remarks, the Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs, and Provost, College of Humanities, Prof. Daniel Frimpong Ofori, emphasised the need to use the bus for its intended purpose.
He added that the longevity of the bus is dependent on how well the Department of Geography and Resource Development handles it.
Prof. Martin Oteng-Ababio expressed immense gratitude to alumni of the Department and the Geography and Resource Development Students’ Association (GREDSA) for their collective efforts in the procurement of the bus.
Present at the ceremony were faculty, staff, alumni of the Department and members of GREDSA.
