Most of us have had blemishes on our skin while growing up and attributed it to adolescence and hormones. We were told we would grow out of it. Some did but well, others didn’t and in some people, this situation makes them feel more self-conscious with every appearing blemish and pimple while others have accepted who they are and doing what they can to embrace it.
One of the main problems is that there are some people who will always point out our flaws and offer some well-intentioned yet obvious advice on how we can improve ourselves. Here are 5 things people with acne are tired of hearing.
1. You should stop wearing makeup
You may be right because makeup can clog your pores but if you have acne, chances are you feel self-conscious about your skin and so makeup is necessary to cover it up so you boost your self-confidence. It’s not ideal but it works.
2. Have you tried (insert product name here)?
Most people who suffer especially from cystic acne have tried a lot of different topical solutions that generally just don’t work or have caused them to get burns on their faces. Before suggesting anything, make sure you’ve done your research and you know it’s something that is easily accessible and can work as they’ve worked on real people and not people in ads.
3. Drink a lot of water
Whenever you’re tempted to suggest this as advice, Don’t. If people could cure cystic acne with water, nobody would have it.
4. Use a natural remedy. Natural always works better
Truth is, they usually even make things worse and it ends up either causing burns or more acne on the face since they’re usually raw products.
5. You should wash your face more often
This makes it seem as if the person you’re talking to isn’t hygienic. Acne is not a result of neglect. It’s as a result of a host of other things. Overwashing your skin can be harmful too, especially with an incredibly sensitive face.
