Sickle cell disease is a serious lifelong health condition that can cause people who have the disease, severe pain and organ failure often even requiring hospital admission. Living with sickle cell means living with the possibility of triggering crisis episodes that end in a hospital visit. Although there are treatments to minimize risk for people living with the disease, there haven’t been any significant events in sickle cell treatment in the past 20 years, until now.

The new therapy by the NHS of England is delivered by drop transfusion and will allow patients to have a better quality of life; reducing trips to the hospital by almost half.
