Yesterday was a very good day when it came to pushing African musicians and their music to a global platform.
For decades, African musicians have done their own thing on the continent, moved across borders within the continent, however, it has been a struggle getting into global mainstream music.
Now, the momentum is changing. African artist after African artist is making strides in the mainstream global music scene especially, in America.
Yesterday, Wizkid was featured in the GQ magazine, his biggest magazine profile yet.
Photographed by Ghanaian Prince Gyasi for the October issue of GQ Magazine, Wizkid was celebrated for his big hits that have taken African music into spaces that were usually out of bounds.
Sarkodie, on his part, is also repping the African hip hop scene big time on the Grammy’s official YouTube channel.
In a sit-down interview with the Grammy YouTube show called Herbal And Tea White Sofas, Sarkodie breathes a new life into the scene he has been a good ambassador for.
His fans noticed it and celebrated him.
Wizkid is also being that great African music ambassador with his GQ feature.
African music is going all the way up!
