Sani Majeed: Final Year UEW Student Passes Away From Injuries Sustained In A Back Flip Fall

At Korle By Teaching Hospital yesterday, Sani Abdul Majeed a student of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) passed away.

His death was caused by injuries he sustained when he performed a gymnastic backflip to celebrate the end of exams.

Sani did a summersault and reportedly failed to land properly and fell. However, that fall on the concrete platform caused him to sustain injuries to his spine and neck

Sani, who is a final year student, was in the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports.

The Students Representative Council of the UEW (Main), have a message of condolence to Sani’s family and loved ones.

“The Council extends its heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the deceased’s family on the untimely loss of their son,” the statement said.

The SRC also sent a cautionary note to final year students who are in the mood to jubilate the completion of their studies.

“The Council wishes to draw the attention to the final year students who are in the mood of celebrating the completion of their courses or programmes to do that with moderation and should not be carried away,” the SRC said.
