Ghanaians who love to watch Hollywood movies are mourning the passing of one of the best actors they have seen on the screen.

Yesterday, it was reported that American actor Michael K Williams had passed away due to a possible drug overdose.

He was found dead in his New York penthouse apartment by family members.

Most Ghanaians who are mourning him today would have seen him in ‘The Wire’ in which he played the role of Omar Little, someone who robs drug lords.

Williams was also known for his performances in “Boardwalk Empire”, “12 Years a Slave” and “Assassin’s Creed.” More recently, he was in HBO’s “Lovecraft Country.” Next week Sunday, he might win his first EMMY for his role in the movie.

His first forays into entertainment were as a dancer for artists including Missy Elliot, Ginuwine, Crystal Waters and Technotronic.

This meant a lot of Ghanaians have been following his work for years now and his passing was indeed a huge blow for them.

Many have taken to social media to pay tribute to him.

  1. We doing the same.

2. Omar Little forever.

3. Nothing more to add here.

Williams was born in 1966 in Brooklyn, his mother is from Nassau, Bahamas, and his father is from South Carolina. He was 54 when he passed.
