Studying Visual Arts at senior high school was just the beginning of attaining his dreams as a Fashion Designer.
Kojo Kusi, who grew up in Ashaiman and is now based in Kumasi, is gradually making a name for himself in the fashion scene in Ghana.
After completing Tema Methodist Day SHS, Kojo followed his fashion dreams and acquired tailoring skills as a tailors apprentice within three years.
He later started designing on his own in late 2019 and that’s when his work started getting recognition and exposure.
Colours, however, are Kojo Kusi’s main inspiration as a fashion designer.
“I get inspired by colours. Just by seeing colours, I can quickly sketch the idea and start thinking about the production process, he told Kuulpeeps.
“Using all types of colours is a big part of the StudioKojoKusi brand and the aim is to introduce colours that men won’t normally wear because of the classification of some colours as ‘Feminine’,” he added.
One of the outfits that Kojo makes which has gained much prominence is his colourful brand of jackets.
Okyeame Kwame, Pappy Kojo, Spacely and Kwaku DMC are some Ghanaian celebrities who have been seen in Kojo Kusi’s jackets.
He, however, indicates that his next collection will come with other great outfits aside from jackets.
“I don’t work on just jackets but then that’s what a lot of people associate me with because that’s what I show to the public all the time. In my next collection which is titled ‘WELCOME TO THE STUDIO’, I’m looking to present more than just jackets.”
“The future is great looking at the amount of work I’m yet to unveil to the public and also I’m yet to present a well thought of collection and that makes me happy,” he added.
