
OnlyFans, a subscription-based media content platform that gained popularity because it allowed sex workers to post explicit content on the platform sent shockwaves to the industry when it announced that it would be banning explicit content on its platform.
The creators who have put in a lot of work into building a following for their pages and by so doing made OnlyFans the number subscription-based platform that allowed explicit content, felt disappointed and let down.
Most of the consumers who frankly only or mostly visited the platform because of the explicit content were also disappointed.
A lot of people also regarded the OnlyFans porn ban as the platform taking advantage of sex workers and dumping them when it was convenient for them.
Days later, OnlyFans is taking a U-Turn.
It announced that it is suspending the October 1 porn ban.
“The proposed October 1, 2021 changes are no longer required due to banking partners’ assurances that OnlyFans can support all genres of creators,” it said in a statement to OnlyFans content creators.

After the news broke, users had a thing or two to say.
OnlyFans became a major revenue stream for a lot of sex workers and people who just had to go into the industry after being laid off from work due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
