The University of Ghana Students Representative Council (UGSRC) is accepting applications from prospective students to serve as ambassadors of an electronic Learning project dubbed ‘E-learning Champions’ that is being organized by the Academic Affairs committee of the SRC in various departments and faculties on campus.
The project intends to propagate, promote and enhance the quality of the premier University’s online studies.
The University of Ghana is currently rolling out a hybrid system of learning as part of a move to recover from the heavy impact the covid-19 pandemic has had and continues to have on the educational sector.
Speaking to UniversNews, Acting Head of Academic Affairs of the UGSRC, Abdul Salam Mohammed stated that the E-learning Champions that will be deployed in the program are to help facilitate the objective of promoting e-learning on the UG campus.
“E-learning is a global phenomenon which has come to stay and enunciated the responsibility of the university in ensuring that both staff and students are able to adequately utilize the E-learning platforms. The duration of the program is a single academic year for each applicant and emphasized the reapplication of the process. If you are in level 200 and you applied and you get it in level 300 you need to reapply again to renew your membership in other to serve again.”
He added that the SRC is seeking to prioritize second and third-year students in implementing this initiative.
“Though students in level 200 and 300 are prioritized, students in level 100 equally qualify. The reason is that the level 100 are new to the system and getting used to some of the structures in the school will be difficult because they are not well abreast with some of the things in the school.”
