You’re looking for that pricing sweet spot where it’s not too expensive for your client, but it’s also worth your time, effort and, passion. Choosing the right price is hard, but it’s less hard when you follow these tips.
Take Your Time
A habit that prevents freelancers from charging their worth is not considering what will actually go into the work that they’re going to be doing. When someone asks how much you’re charging, ask for some time to come up with a figure. That way you can think the work through and figure out how much of your time and effort is going to go into it. In addition to that, the cost of your equipment should also factor into how much you’re charging.
Create Different Tiers With Different Prices
Another thing that you can do is set 3 different prices for the same service. You can have a bottom tier that doesn’t come with as many features, and a mid-tier and a higher most tier. Delivery time could also feature in the prices of your tiers. If you’re a graphic designer, for example, your bottom tier could just be a logo, while your higher most tier is a logo, templates to be used on social media, alternative color options for different contexts, and all delivered in a week. It’s up to you to decide what goes into each tier.
Do Some Research
If you have access to other people in your freelance field, you can ask them how much they charge for their work. You can also go on the internet and find creators in your field and figure out how much they’re charging. That should give you an accurate estimate of what the price is on the market for your services.
Set A Goal
As a freelancer, you should have a goal (a realistic amount) that you’re hoping to earn by the end of the year or after a period that you’ve defined. Every time you’re charging for services, take that goal into account and set your prices accordingly.
