It’s easy to think that you’re doing everything right when it comes to applying hair products to your hair because, well, it’s just about putting the product in your palm and the applying it to your hair right? Well, not exactly. The reason why sometimes your hair doesn’t seem to be growing or it looks and feels dry is because of your technique. Keep reading to find out more.
1. Check the quantity you apply
Majority of the time, putting a little product into your palm and emulsifying it does the work. Emulsifying products means rubbing your hands together to heat up and distribute your hair product on your hands before applying on your hair. Products can weigh your hair down so a little goes a long way. Look at the volume of your hair and it’s length before using the product.
2. Apply products to damp hair, not wet hair
Applying your hair products unto wet hair will cause you to lose a good chunk of it during the drying process. Because to this, it’s best to towel dry or air dry your hair prior to applying products.
3. Massage the product into your hair
This is done to make sure the hair absorbs all the needed product. You can coat the hair with products by using the raking method where you apply the product onto your hands and rub them together. Ensure that there is enough product on each finger for full coverage. Run your fingers through your hair as if you were detangling it and repeat until there is no more product left on your fingers. Or you can use the scrunching method where you flip your hair to the front and apply product to hands and rub. Clench your fingers onto the ends of your hair and scrunch up and hold for five seconds. Repeat until you have scrunched every part of your hair and flip your hair back and whip from side to side.
