6 “Gross” Things Your Body Does That Are Actually Good For You

The human body can be embarrassing. Have you had an experience where someone lay their head on your stomach and for some reason, that was when your stomach decided to make noises? It wasn’t as if you were hungry or you had a stomach upset. It just decided to make noise. The truth is that all the embarrassing things our bodies do just show us that we are healthy. Here are some of them.

1. Passing gas

Passing gas may be embarrassing especially because of the people you’re around or a situation you may be in but it’s perfectly healthy. It’s proof that your digestive system is working unless it’s accompanied with other digestive health issues, such as irritable bowel syndrome or a food intolerance.

2. Eye boogers

Sometimes you miss them even when you bath thoroughly and unless someone tells you they’re there or unless you look closely in a mirror, you wouldn’t see them. Eye boogers are present when you wake up because your eyes are closed throughout the night and the mucus builds up. It’s a sign of healthy eyes.

3. Sweating

We all know sweating helps regulate your body temperature, protects your skin from overheating and also removes the toxins that clog pores but it gets extremely uncomfortable! Especially if you wear something with short or long sleeves and it forms sweat only under your arms.

4. Ear wax

Growing up most of us were taught to use ear buds to “clean” the ear and get rid of the wax. When we grew up we realised that ear wax is actually produced by the body to keep it clean and healthy. It prevents debris, dirt and other things from entering into the ear canal

5. Boogers

Kids (and some adults) remove these dried mucus from their noses and either flick them away or eat them🤦🏽‍♀️. Even though we hate them because sometimes they’ll just be hanging in the nostril space without us knowing but everyone can see them, mucus help capture dirt that might otherwise go into your upper respiratory tract.

6. Vaginal Fluids

If they don’t smell fishy or generally weird, they are very healthy.  If you’re trying to get pregnant, this fluid will help sperm get where it needs to go to meet up with an egg. It also acts as a natural lubricant for sex.
