A week ago, the attention of some Ghanaians was on an ‘Our Day’ ceremony which took place at the Christ Ambassadors School in Dansoman, Accra.
A letter written by Oswald Gennuh, a class three pupil of the school, to his parents about the things he wanted for ‘Our Day’ went viral on social media after a work colleague of the 9-year-old’s mother posted a photo of the list on Twitter.
The post resulted in donations from major brands and companies in the country to make the day a memorable one for Oswald and all the pupils in the school.
While, some wondered how a letter written by a 9-year-old could generate so much conversation on social media and support from major brands, Nana Ama Serwaa believes it’s a blessing from God for the good deeds of Oswald’s father, Stephen Mark Gennuh.
According to Nana Ama Serwaa, Mr Gennuh supported her family when her husband died; and believes Oswald is reaping the blessings for all that his dad did for her family.
In a Facebook post, she wrote:
“His father supported my son when he lost his dad- call it karma. I believe it’s God and Daniel saying thank you I can’t keep mute. I usually won’t make long comments on posts but I have to do this. This event has lifted my faith in God even higher. Brethren’s, God is with us. And the evidence that whatever we do in this world, our children will reap it.”
“Mark, you are indeed blessed and wherever Daniel’s Spirit is, I believe is so grateful to you for the selfless act to his son. When I got to know this evening that this is your son, I got goosebumps all over me and I cried. If you are reading this and thinking that the sponsors could have invested into something or someone else, you are clearly missing something. You don’t know what has happened before this event. This is not normal, now I understand why. The boy and his family deserves this and are about to experience even greater things that beat imagination because God has seen the great and wonderful things this man has done in others life.”
“My dears, this is clearly the hands of God, a blessing from God to his father descending to generations, which will go down to other 1000 generations of him.”
“This is a man who has supported my son after he lost his father, trying everything he can. I could write a list but to mention a few, Mark Gennuh availed himself when we painfully lost Daniel, trying everything to make us feel ok, Making my sons birthday memorable and playing important roles in his life. You gave us hope, you supported us in our difficult moments. Mark Gennuh, nyame Nkyira wo, May God continue to lift you and your family. You truly deserve this.”
Oswald’s donation to the Royal Seed Home Orphanage
On August 1, Oswald and his parents donated some products from the ‘Our Day’ donations to the Royal Seed Home Orphanage at Ofaakor, Accra.
In an interview with Kuulpeeps, Mr Gennuh said this was done to ensure that smiles are put on the face of other kids just as the brands did for Oswald and the pupils at his school.
“We are going to ensure that he doesn’t enjoy them alone. We are going to do some donations. We are looking at some or two areas that we want to go to and make the donations so that he will also show the love that was expressed to him to others and put smiles on their faces,” he said.
