Despite the occasional rainfall on campus, students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology are still showing up to vote for their preferred candidates for various student leadership positions.
With the Samuel Sesah-led administration coming to an end of their tenure, the students are choosing the next leaders to run the Students’ Representative Council.
The KNUST Electoral Commission has deployed an electronic voting procedure for the election.
Also, to ensure that all students are given the opportunity to vote, several polling stations have been set up at various locations on campus.
The Engineering Auditorium, the Pharmacy New Block, Faculty of Law, Casely-Hayford Building and other vantages points are serving as polling stations for the elections.
13 students are vying for 4 SRC executive portfolios.
The presidential race is a hotly contested one with 5 candidates who are all eager to lead the student body in the 2021/2022 academic year.
Michael Abuah, DSK Acquah Jr, Frank Owusu, Prince Adjei Ackah, and Kevin Abban are facing off in the presidential race.
The General Secretary race is not dull either. Catherine Osei, Benedicta Tiwaa Amankwaah, Emmanuella Bessa Simons and Comfort Awuah are pulling off all their campaign tactics to win this portfolio.
Meanwhile, Derek Andy Dadzie and Solomon Coffie are battling it out for the role of Financial Secretary while second-year Scholastica Yeboah is giving third-year Delali Forgive Setugah a run for her money for the position of Women’s Commissioner.
