Afro-Fusion Artist Dede Speaks Set To Release Acoustic Version For “Tribal Marks EP”

Dede Speaks

Wrapping up the release of her debut project Tribal Marks and paying homage to its late producer Dokta Frabz, Dede Speaks will release an acoustic version of the Tribal Marks Ep. Scheduled to be released on August 6, 2021, the acoustic set features three songs from the original project. Kae, Billie Jean, and Story. With a unique twist placed on each track, this Acoustic set seeks to provide a more intimate feel to an already personal project.

The original EP provided an in-depth look into who Dede Speaks is as an artist, her desires as well as who she is becoming as she defines and develops her sound. Influenced by themes such as identity, loss, love, and rejection, Dede Speaks echoes her lived realities throughout her music.

Replacing the fusions of hip hop, Pop, and Afrobeat instrumentation from the original project, Dokta Frabz crafts honeyed melodies accompanied by dynamic guitar riffs which provides a refreshing new smoothness and depth to each of the tracks.

Sharing her thoughts on Tribal Marks Acoustic, Dede Speaks states, “Creating this project with Dokta Frabz was a blessing. Apart from the memories, I have these great songs to help keep his memory alive. I thought I created something special with the original project, but with this acoustic version, I feel Frabz was able to evoke and add a level of vulnerability needed to the songs with his riffs and melodies. I wanted the sound to feel intimate and I hope people will be able to hear that.”

Honoring her last memories of working with Dokta Frabz before his untimely passing in March 2021, Tribal Marks Acoustic serves as an ode to the memory and legacy of Dokta Frabz’ artistry and the man himself.
