A total of nine students have filed their nominations to contest for various offices in this year’s University of Ghana Students Representative Council (UGSRC) election.
This number may reduce as their eligibility to contest in the election is yet to be ascertained by the Office of the Dean of Students.
The Presidency has the highest number of contenders as four students are aiming at becoming the first democratically elected leader of the undergraduate students front since 2020 when Isaac Agyemang’s tenure in office expired.
Presidential Aspirants
In the presidential race are Ofosu Samuel Amos, Ayitta Felix Tawiah, and Asumadu Prince, with Acquah Alfred, Andam Paul Kofi Baah and Ndukwe Wisdom as their running-mates, respectively.
Priscilla Asantewaa Ayeh, however, is the only female in the presidential race, and has Quarcoopome Henry Nii Adjiri as her running-mate.

General Secretary Aspirants
It is an all-women affair in the General Secretary race with Mate-Kodjo Jonelle, Antwi Stephanie Naadu, and Mwinviel-Rebecca Derry contesting.
Treasurer Aspirants
Abdul-Rashid Abdul-Razak and Obeng Asamoah Daniel are the only aspirants for the Treasurer’s office.
The University of Ghana SRC election has been scheduled for September 10, 2021.
The Electoral Commission says that the election will be held both online and on-site.
First and final-year students will vote electronically with second and third-year students casting their vote on-site.
