Considering the fact that we are in a world of DIYs and Pinterest, we find it extremely important to remind you that, the skin on your face is much more delicate as compared to the other parts of your body. Before you try whatever concoction that Tiktoker or Youtuber suggests, go through our list and make sure you’re not using any of the products here.
1. Body lotion
A number of people use body lotion all over their bodies – including their faces which isn’t right. You may not have fully hopped onto the skincare wagon but having a designated facial cream is a must. The skin on our faces is much thinner than other parts of the body. Body lotions tend to be thicker and contain more fragrances than facial moisturizers that can lead to allergic reactions and breakouts.
2. Bar soap
Just as you need facial cream, you need soap specially made for your face as well. You want to get rid of the dirt and excessive oils on your face but you don’t want to strip your skin off all of its oils. You still want your face to be hydrated after everything. Bar soaps remove the natural oils from your skin and make it dry, rough and even itchy.
Vitamin C is important for the skin but applying lemon juice directly to your face may cause more harm than good. Going into the sun after using lemon may irritate the skin and even cause burns.
4. Baking Soda
Baking soda is used for a lot of different things but it’s very alkaline in nature and it will affect your skin. Your pH levels need to be at a particular level otherwise it will cause breakouts.
Apparently, toothpaste can be applied directly onto a pimple so it dries out but at the end of the day, toothpaste increases melanin production and forms discolouration and dark spots on the areas where it was applied.
6. Hot water
Using hot water on your body can be very soothing but it shouldn’t touch your face. Hot water strips the moisture from your skin and leaves it stretchy and dry.
