Everyone needs a certain amount of natural oil to keep their skin supple and moisturized. An oily skin type is exactly what it sounds like – excess oil on the face produces a persistently shiny or greasy appearance. If you don’t treat your oily skin, pores can become clogged and enlarged, and dead skin cells may accumulate. Blackheads, pimples and other types of acne are also common with this skin type.

How to Know if You Have Oily-Type Skin:

If your skin exhibits the following, then you have an oily skin type:

1. Your face is shiny and usually appears greasy later on in the day.

2. Makeup doesn’t stay on and seems to “slide” off.

3. The oilier areas of your face have blackheads, pimples or other types of acne.

4. Pores are visibly enlarged, especially on your nose, chin and forehead.

If you still aren’t sure, wash your face thoroughly with water. Just water. Pat it dry with a towel and leave it for an hour. Go about your day. After the hour, observe your face by checking in the mirror and touching as well.

If your face is oily all over, then you have an oily skin. If it is oily around the forehead, nose and chin areas but dry around the cheeks and temple areas, then you have a combination skin.

Oily skin is typically hereditary – if you have oily skin, it’s probably because your parents suffered a similar fate. If your oily skin is driving you crazy, there’s good news – those with oily skin types tend to have more moisture in their skin, making them less prone to premature wrinkles.

It doesn’t end here. Next week we are going to discuss how to treat acne with an oily type skin. Stay tuned so you don’t miss out important information about how to treat your Skin better. And a reminder “FILTERS ARE GREAT ,BUT A HEALTHY GLOWING SKIN IS BETTER”
