KNUST Students Reportedly Attack Each Other During SRC Elections Vetting


Some students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) were engaged in a physical altercation yesterday during vetting of student leadership aspirants.

As the SRC election season peaks at KNUST, the school’s Electoral Commission organized a vetting for all the aspirants who are running for various SRC offices.

Yesterday, during the vetting exercise some of the students were engaged in a fight with some getting injured in the process.

According to reports that cannot independently verify, supporters of Michael Abuah, one of the frontrunners of the KNUST-SRC Presidential race were attacked by Kantanga hall residents who are also allegedly supporting another candidate.

The current fight is being seen as a fight between two of the traditional KNUST Halls, Katanga and Continental.

This has increased tensions surrounding SRC election as the various candidates will begin to increase their campaigning activities after the vetting.
