We all learn in different ways and if you’re in the university right now, then chances are that you’ve found a way of learning that works for you. Or maybe you’re still struggling a bit. Either way, here are three tips that are guaranteed to make your learning process better. Guaranteed!

Ask Don’t Think

Whenever you’re studying and find that you’re having trouble understanding something, the worst thing you can do is to keep going round in circles. Asking for help from someone who knows more than you do might take up 5 to 10 minutes of their time, but it could cost you so much more trying to figure things out on your own.

Ask your course mates; text that one friend from your class. If it’s something more complex, don’t be afraid to go see a lecturer.

When you’re studying in the university, it should be geared towards a specific outcome. Don’t just pick off random chapters from your text book. Speak to your TAs and try to get hints on which areas end up being the most tested. Or get a copy of past questions for that particular course and find out what format questions usually take.

One of the best ways to test what you know, is to try and teach. When you’re actually teaching something you’ll realize the things that you didn’t know as well as you thought you did. And you’ll also realize where your strengths lie. And of course, there’s the added benefit that you’re teaching someone who could actually use that knowledge.
