Mr Drew: From Motown To Winning ‘Best New Artiste’ At VGMA 22

Mr Drew is a Ghanaian singer signed to the Highly Spiritual Music label

Mr Drew won the award Best New Artiste at the 22nd Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), held on June 26, 2021, at the Grand Arena in Accra.

He beat off competition from nine others including Amerado, Bosom P Yung, Gyakie, Kofi Jamar, Kweku Flick, Larruso, Yaw Tog and Camidoh, to claim the award.

Aside from winning an award, Mr Drew also put up an electrifying performance which propelled viewers of the show to refer to him as the ‘Modern Day Slim Buster’, after displaying great dance moves during his performance.

Mr Drew is an alumnus of one of Ghana’s prestigious senior high schools, Achimota School. He later pursued his tertiary education at the University of Ghana.

Mr Drew started off his career as a dancer and then later pursued music at the tertiary level.

In 2017, he participated in MTN Hitmaker season 6, came up as the first runner-up.

He was also nominated for the Unsung category at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019.

Mr Drew is currently signed to the Highly Spiritual Music Label.

His hit songs include Later, Mood, Let Me Know, Dw3, Eat and This Year.
