First-year and final year students of the University of Ghana are returning to campus to begin their second semester.
The university was put them in batches due to efforts to limit the number of students at a given time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With these students coming back to campus accommodation arrangements have got to be made.
This has therefore, created an opportunity for fraudsters who want to prey on unsuspecting students.
The Students’ Representative Council of the University of Ghana (UG SRC) has issued a cautionary notice to students after many suspected fraudulent accomadation messages started circulating.
Acting swiftly to prevent students from falling victim, the SRC advised students to speak to hall officials if they are interested in residing on campus.
The students have been asked to contact the administration of the halls directly to make the necessary arrangements.
The SRC also indicated that it has started investigations to identify the people behind the suspected fraudulent and unapproved third party group promising accommodation slots to students when they do not have the clearance to do so.
