The horrible nature of Monday’s multiple murder and robbery has made some Ghanaians fearful for the lives and safety of the junior officers in the Ghana Police Service.
As junior officers, they are often the ones on the front line and in the line of danger.
As it horribly occurred in Jamestown yesterday, when a police officer and trader were murdered by armed robbers who attacked a bullion van and made away with some of the money the vehicle was transporting.
This is not the first time a similar incident had occurred in the country, however, nothing seemed to have changed after those attacks.
Following yesterday’s horrific incident, the police have given an ultimatum to the banks to secure an armoured bullion van else they will withdraw their escort services.
Today, young Ghanaians have taken to Twitter to demand that more is done to protect police officers.
If the people who are supposed to provide safety are not safe themselves, how will they provide the protection the public needs?
