These 5 Stylish Tips Will Bring A New Level To Your Shift Dress Game

We are sure you know the type of dress we are talking about; you just didn’t know it was called a Shift Dress. A shift dress is a “free” dress that hangs from the shoulders. They are typically sleeveless but most of the ones we see around have sleeves.

The problem with this type of dress is the fact that it can make you look “heavy”. If you’re already big, it can make you look frumpy and heavier than you already are. Here are some tips to get past this problem.

1. Play with the shape of the dress

If you have an apple shape, this dress flatters it but if you have an hourglass shape, you may want to show your body shape more and so you can wear a belt around your waist to cinch it up a bit so your waist doesn’t disappear.

2. Get a dress that’s a little tailored

Some of these dresses are slightly looser than others. Get one that nips in slightly around your boobs and butt.

3. Get a longer one if you prefer that

These dresses tend to be short so if you want a longer version, get that one. Also, when you wear heels, it makes the dress look shorter. If this bothers you, wear sandals or a flat shoe.

4. Layer it up

You can wear a leather jacket or denim jacket over your dress (depending on the style) just to add a little “umph” to it. You can also wear a turtleneck long sleeved top underneath it. Whatever layering inspiration you have, you can try it with the dress you have.

5. Accessorize

The shoes and bags you select to pair with your outfit will set the tone for your look. Generally, these dresses aren’t memorable but if you want the opposite effect, accessorize with long necklaces, chunky bracelets, or a bold handbag.

We hope these tips help.
