Ghanaian Musician, Asi Renie is set to embark on a cleaning exercise on the 29th May, 2020 at No.1 at Labadi. The clean-up will start from 8 am to 10 am.
The waste gathered from the clean-up exercise will be used for the Recycling Art project in collaboration with some Creative artists in Ghana. Covid-19 Protocols will be observed, alongside, Masks and gloves will be provided
Asi Renie took to Twitter to make the announcement about the cleaning initiative where she stated “We deserve trash-free seas! Let’s clean up (NO 1 at Labadi) this Saturday! All plastics collected will be used for Recycling ART project, me and a bunch of super creative artists are working on! Everyone is welcome! Love and Light Asi Renie.”
The plastic waste in Ghana and on our beaches are becoming alarming making it difficult to destress in the once relaxing beaches of Accra.
In 2020, it was recorded Over 2.58 million metric tonnes of raw plastic is imported into Ghana each year and 73% of this ends up as waste. And due to our deficient plastic disposal infrastructure, Ghana is one of the most polluted countries in the world.
