Last weekend would certainly have been extremely difficult for Cordelia Ama Selormey.
She is the mother of the amazing Michael Kofi Asiamah who was laid to rest over the weekend.
At a young age, Michael was fairly known by a significant amount of people due to his participation in the Talented Kidz competition. However, he really captured the attention of Ghanaians when his GoFundMe campaign went viral during last Easter Weekend.
Michael was able to raise $40k from the campaign to pay for his brain tumor surgery, he had originally asked for $30k.
The campaign was backed by Sarkodie, Michael’s hero, Naa Ashorkor and other well known personalities.
With the money secured, Michael went to surgery on April 6 which had been successful
However, three days after the surgery, while Michael was still on admission at the hospital, tragedy struck, when he passed away.
“He was talking, eating and making a beautiful recovery. We were happy…but that joy was earlier this evening, in less than 20 minutes just snatched away…Michael had finished eating and was being prepped for bed by the attendees. He complained of a pain in the chest and just like that, my baby was gone!” his mother said at the time.
Over the weekend, well wishers joined his family to bid him farewell.
Rest In Peace, Michael.
