Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings

University of Ghana, Ashesi University, and University of Professional Studies, Accra, have been ranked as the top three universities in Ghana, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2021.

The Impact Rankings assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Indicators are carefully calibrated to provide comprehensive and balanced comparisons across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching.

The universities were scored based on their contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The 2021 Impact Rankings is the third edition and the overall ranking includes 1,115 universities from 94 countries/regions.

The University of Ghana was scored based on its contributions to good health and well-being (SDG 3), peace, justice, and strong institutions (SDG 16), no poverty, (SDG 1), partnerships for the goals (SDG 17).

Ashesi University was scored based on its contributions to no poverty (SDG 1), affordable and clean energy (SDG 7), gender equality (SDG 5), and partnerships for the goals (SDG 17).

The University of Professional Studies, Accra was scored based on its contributions to decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), peace, justice, and strong institutions (SDG 16), quality education (SDG 4), partnerships for the goals (SDG 17).
