Kissi Adjebeng: Here’s Why This Accra Academy & Legon Alumnus Has Gone Viral On Social Media

Kissi Adjebeng

While he might be a celebrity in the Ghanaian law field, Kissi Adjebeng was not known much beyond that.

However, over night, he has found himself becoming a major conversational point on social media.

Kissi certainly might have seen it coming and that in the next couple of days or even years, he will become a very essential person in the country’s political scene.

Kissi Adjebeng

That is because Kissi Adjebeng has been nominated as the Special Prosecutor by President Akufo-Addo through the Attorney General, Godfred Dame.

He will be replacing the famous Martin Amidu after he resigned months ago citing interference in his investigation and prosecution work as the Special Prosecutor.

The office of the Special Prosecutor was created by the President after he assumed office in his first time. As a special prosecuting office, it was to go after corrupt officials.

However, if what Martin Amidu has said is nothing else but the truth and the whole truth, then some influential government officials who certainly have the ear of the President have repeatedly attempted to interfere in his work.

Kissi Adjebeng, with almost two decades of legal practice under his belt, will be expected to carry on with the work Martin left behind.

Kissi is a former student of Accra Academy and later the University of Ghana, Legon where he won the Bentsi-Enchill Award for Best Graduating Law Student in 2001.

He then won the E.N. Sowah Memorial Award for Best Student in Family Law in 2003 from the Ghana School of Law.

From there he went on to obtain two Masters of Law degrees from Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and Cornell Law School, Ithaca, New York.

He undoubtedly has a good legal brain however, some Ghanaians are already being cautious and sounding an alarm on how the Presidency might interfere in his work.

Kissi, who will be turning 43 this July, has worked on some of the high profile cases in the country including representing Anas in his case against some of the judges caught in the judicial bribery scandal.
