Maybe it hasn’t really hit you yet but as you go through our list, you’ll realize that there are a lot of things that the average Ghanaian doesn’t really use anymore. These things have lost their value to us through no fault of theirs. Here are 4 of them.
1. Website Cookies
Anytime you open a website, they ask you if you want cookies and because you want the pop up to disappear from your screen and because when you select the other option there apart from the “Accept” you can’t read the numerous things written, you just go ahead and choose Accept.
Just so you know, cookies were designed to be a reliable mechanism for websites to remember stateful information or to record the user’s browsing activity.
2. 10 pesewas, 5 pesewas and the 1 pesewa coin
The 10 pesewa coin is even better than the other 2 but usually, the least pesewa people have on them is the 20 pesewa coin. As for the 1 pesewa, it’s usually the malls that use them and even with that, people just leave it with them because truly, what in this Ghana, will you use it for?
3. Terms and conditions
Have you really been able to read through terms and conditions fully before? Have you even read the first 2 sentences? 👀👀 That’s how an app will carry all your details and you won’t even know it’s happening because you accepted without reading. Any legally binding item should be read and understood before being written.
4. GHS 200 notes
The GHS 100 note is way better than this one. You can buy something worth GHS 50 and be given your balance but you see that GHS 200 note? Nobody will mind you unless maybe a fuel station. If you hand this note to a Trotro mate, unless you get down because he won’t take it. Plus, who wants to hold a GHS 200 note? That note looks exactly like the GHS 1. When you lose it you won’t know what to do to yourself. That’s so much money in one “paper.”
