Ghanaians Disagree With The Prosecution Of Akuapem Poloo

Ghanaian social media personality and actress, Rosemond Brown, popularly known as Akuapem Poloo is currently in the grips of the law.

She is being held in police custody pending sentencing after she pleaded guilty to three charges levelled against her by state prosecutors.

The charges were about her June 2020 photos in which she appeared nude beside her seven-year-old son.

She was charged with the publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence namely conduct that in any way undermines another person’s privacy or integrity and engaging in domestic violence namely conduct that in any way detracts or is likely to detract from another person’s dignity and worth as a human being.

In November last year, she had pleaded not guilty to the charges only to change her plea today when her trial commenced.

As it is required by law, the judge remanded Akuapem Poloo into police custody to undergo pregnancy test before she is sentenced on April 16.

When the news of her pleading guilty which resulted in the judge finding her guilty on her own plea, social media users spoke out against the prosecution of Akuapem Poloo and the supposed policing of morality in the country.

It is unclear whether Akuapem Poloo will be sentenced to a prison term or whether she will be fined.
