Michael Kofi Asiamah, the 13-year-old boy whom award-winning rapper, Sarkodie, helped to raise money, has undergone successful surgery.
Michael had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and his family needed $30,000 (GHS 172K) to pay for his medical treatment.
His family turned to crowdfund in order to raise the money.
With support from Sarkodie and an army of Ghanaian social media users, Michael and his family reached their goal.
Days after reaching his goal, Michael, who describes himself as a songwriter who enjoys writing Christian rap, has reportedly undergone successful brain surgery.
“We want to thank everyone for the donations, prayers, visits, and encouragement. Today, Tuesday 6th April, Michael had the surgery to take out as much of the tumour as possible,” Kwabena Asiamah posted as an update to the Go Fund Me campaign.
“There was no tissue damage for which we are incredibly thankful,” he added.
“He is now resting comfortably. We will try to provide updates as Michael continues with his treatment so you can all keep up with his progress,” he said.
