Tyrone Marhguy Set To Gain Admission This Week

Tyrone Marhguy, one of two first-year senior high school students at the centre of the Achimota dreadlock row is set to gain admission this week.

Tyrone and another student were denied admission into Achimota Senior High School because of their dreadlocks – a move that has become a hotly debated issue.

His decision to reject the directive from Achimota School to cut his dreadlock has left him school-less.

In a Twitter update, Tyrone said he is set to gain admission this week.

“I’ll be going to school. I’m very grateful for the support of everyone on this issue!!” he said in the tweet.

“I believe it’s necessary I do this, that way I won’t lose too much in the end!!” he added.

Tyrone did not say whether he is going back to Achimota School which is unlikely since both parties are still focused on their entrenched positions, but he also did not give any indication of the school that is prepared to offer him admission.

There have been earlier reports that Tyrone and his two dreadlocked sisters Nikita and Amrita, whose admission into St Johns Grammar is also in jeopardy, have been offered scholarships from 6 different institutions.
