Drake has officially become the first rapper to ever have three songs debut in the top three spots on Billboard Hot 100.
Drake’s latest album, Scary Hours 2 made chart history, solidifying the Toronto-artist as the first to ever have three tracks simultaneously sit at No. 1, 2, and 3. With “What’s Next” sitting at No. 1, Drizzy and Lil Baby‘s track, “Wants And Needs” takes No. 2, and “Lemon Peper Freestyle” with Rick Ross rounds out the three-song bracket.
Drake is no stranger to the chart having held the record for the most top 10 hits in the history of Billboard in 2020. His 39th and 40th entry into the top 10 includes his collaborations with famed producer DJ Khaled for “Popstar” and “Greece”. That same year, Drake had the most Hot 100 entries of all-time with a total of 231 entries. It is expected that the number since then has grown, especially with the help of his latest three successes from his last Scary Hours installment. Prior to Drake, Ariana Grande held the top three spots on the charts in 2019 as the first artist to achieve this accomplishment since the Beatles in 1964.
The Canadian’s highly anticipated sixth studio album Certified Lover Boy was originally set to release January 2021 but due to Drake’s injured knee, the release date was postponed. The update was provided earlier this month. The artist spoke on OVO Sound Radio, confirming that the album was “currently being chef’d in every way possible” hinting at working with his regular collaborators such as Noel Cadastre and Noah “40” Shebib.
