Nigeria was the biggest winner of the 2021 GRAMMYs.
The African giant has taken Afrobeats to the international scene and it is profiting off it.
Nigerian musicians who were nominated for their own individual work and partnerships with other international acts won their respective awards.
Burna Boy and Wizkid are the banner bearers for Africa at this year’s GRAMMYs.
After Burna Boy lost to Angelique Kidjo last year, the musician went back to the studio and responded in the only way he knew how – he released a successful Diddy executive-produced album called “Twice As Tall.”
That did the job this year for him to win the Best Global Music album.
Wizkid, on the other hand, leveraged on his collaboration with Beyonce on ‘Brown Skin Girl’ on her “Black Is King” visual album which was created for her Lion King: The Gift audio album. He and Beyonce won the Best Music Video category.
Congrats to Burna Boy and Wizkid.
