President Akufo-Addo Reintroduces Ban On Social Events With The Exemption Of Religious Activities

In his 23rd COVID-19 update address, President Akufo-Addo has announced some form of restrictions meant to help curb the spread of COVID-19.

In the address, the President said until further notice, he was imposing a ban on social activities such as funerals, parties and others.

He said private burials of not more than 25 people will be permitted.

Beaches, nightclubs, cinemas, and pubs are still shut and that restaurants must also issue take-outs instead of allowing patrons to dine in.

He, however, did not impose a ban on religious activities, instead he urged religious leaders to ensure the adherence of the COVID-19 safety protocols.

Schools were also not touched as the President said very few cases have been recorded among students.

To make room for social distancing at the workplace, businesses were also encouraged to implement a shift system for their employees.

According to the President, this and the observation of social distancing measures and the wearing of masks will help curb the spread of the virus.
