A number of people have been posting online about how much they hate how “love” is being done by ourselves but the truth of the matter is that, almost everyone has been through it and has experienced some level of pain and so they’re guarding their hearts and trying as much as possible to do this love thing with their heads.
Here are some reasons why people are afraid to fall in love.
1. Vulnerability
New relationships mean another person you need to open up to and let inside. We are placing a great amount of trust in another person, allowing them to affect us, which makes us feel exposed and vulnerable. The more you care, the greater the pain will be if anything should happen.
2. Afraid of repeating past mistakes
Nobody wants to be in a vicious toxic relationship cycle and so they’ll be wary of the people that want to be that close with them. Also, it is difficult to get over emotional baggage sometimes making it hard to fall in love again.
3. Fear of unmet expectations
Everyone has expectations once they’re entering into a relationship and for some people, the fear of those expectations being unmet or evening pushed aside is an issue for them.
4. Being hurt in the end
Nobody knows what’s going to happen at the end of the day. You can spend every waking moment together and in the end, something minute will break you guys up and cause you so much pain. A lot of people will rather avoid all of this and just be friends.
