President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

At 11:59 PM on January 6, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who has been president of the Republic of Ghana for the last four years ceased being the President.

It was until 1:00 pm January 7 that he was sworn in again as the President of the country for the next four years.

This comes after the Electoral Commissioner, Jean Mensa declared him as the winner of the 2020 Presidential election.

Though the opposition leader, former President John Mahama is petitioning the Supreme Court to annul the results as declared by the EC, the swearing-in was held as scheduled only delayed by a few hours due to the incidents on the floor of Parliament earlier.

The Chief Justice, His Lordship Kwasi Anin-Yeboah was invited by the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin to administer the oaths of allegiance and office to the then President-elect, now President Akufo-Addo again.

He starts his second and last term as President of Ghana today.
