Ghanaian Rapper Tulenkey has revealed how he got on a drill beat with Ghanaian rap superstar Medikal.
In December Tulenkey collaborated with Medikal on their December hit single “50” which has over 300,000 views on Youtube.
In a post on Twitter Tulenkey wrote, “So we were at @amgmedikal ‘s end, spoke for a while about music, then he asked if I had ever made a drill song. I was like nah, he dropped a beat, and we made magic. God bless you King Of Drill for this.”
Drill has become a growing genre in the Ghanaian Music scene with alot of Musicians jumping on the hype.
The genre became popular when a clip of a Ghanaian drill music video went viral: “Sore”, a track by emerging rapper Yaw Tog, left Twitter users across Ghana, the UK and America eager for more. Featuring Life Living label-buddies Jay Bahd and O’Kenneth, Yaw Tog’s “Sore” is one of many Twi-infused drill cuts coming out of Kumasi, Ghana. This movement—which has been dubbed ‘Asakaa’—has garnered so much attention in and around the country that people have nicknamed the city “Kumerica” (a portmanteau of ‘Kumasi’ and ‘America’).
