In his 21st COVID-19 update address, President Akufo-Addo has said the country has not recorded any case of the new coronavirus variance that is said to be more transmissible.
The new coronavirus variance that has been recorded in the UK and South Africa is said to be the main force behind the surge of coronavirus cases in the respective countries.
Many have been calling for a travel ban on passengers traveling into the country from these countries.
However, the government have been so far reluctant to implement such a ban.
President Akufo-Addo said “we have not detected any case of the new variance yet.”
He said scientists in the country have concluded that the genetic makeup of the virus has still not changed.
He, however, noted that the Ghana Health Service is monitoring the case very closely and that they will advise the government accordingly.
