The Internet Spent 100 Billion Hours Watching Gaming Content On YouTube In 2020

For many, 2020 has been a year of staying at home, so it’s no surprise that YouTube traffic has surged significantly during COVID-19. Now looking back at the year, Google‘s video platform has revealed that an incredible 100 billion hours of content has been viewed by the Internet under the site’s Gaming category over 2020 — equivalent to the time taken to travel to Neptune and back 475,000 times.

Aside from pure viewership, the year marked monumental for many accounts on the service. More than 80,000 YouTube Gaming creators have hit 100,000 subscribers over the year, with over 1,000 channels hitting five million subs. At the top, more than 350 creators managed to reach 10 million subscribers. The top channels overall include FGTeeV, Jelly, Flamingo, Robin Hood Gamer, ItsFunnneh, LazarBeam, Slogo, Mikecrack, Arab Games Network and Vegetta777.

As for the Internet’s favorite games, Minecraft takes first place with 201 billion views recorded, while Roblox and Garena Free Fire come in at second and third place with 75 billion views and 72 billion views respectively. GTA V sits at fourth place with 70 billion views, while Fortnite completes the top five with 67 billion views.
