The Electoral Commission has once again confirmed that President Akufo-Addo is the winner of the 2020 Presidential Election which was held on December 7, 2020.

The commission has had to reaffirm the President’s win after people started circulating a video in which it alleges that Jean Mensa has declared former President John Mahama as President-elect.

“The Commission states that this video is doctored and is not a true reflection of what was declared,” the Electoral Commission said in a statement.

The Commission will like to reiterate that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the President-Elect of the 2020 Presidential Election having obtained more than fifty per cent of the total number of valid votes cast as enshrined in Article 63:3 of the 1992 Constitution,” the EC added.

It said the declaration has subsequently been gazetted by the Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) and that it is entreating the “public to disregard the video as it is fake.”

The EC’s statement

The 2020 Presidential election is currently in contention with many expecting the former President John Mahama to petition the Supreme Court in the coming days.
