Super Nintendo World, the Osaka-based theme park, is scheduled to open in February 2021 – COVID-19 notwithstanding. But the delays and complications around its launch have sent fans into a frenzy of anticipation about what to expect.
Now, Nintendo has revealed a video guided tour of the park, led by none other than Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Super Mario.
Highlights include a walk around the lobby of Princess Peach’s castle – in which paintings on the wall correspond to levels from Super Mario 64 – and ‘Mount Beanbole’, a building which resembles the format of classic 2-D platform games. Elsewhere, characters including Yoshi, Toad, and Goomba make appearances across the park’s rides and attractions.
Miyamoto also demonstrates the ‘Power-Up Band’, a wrist device which can be linked with a smartphone app to enable new experiences and discoveries within the park. It also acts as a recorder of the wearer’s progress around the park.
And, of course, no theme park would be complete without a gift shop, which appears heavily laden with Mario-themed merchandise.
Stay tuned for more information about the park ahead of its (planned) opening next year.
