The Ghanaian parliament is made up of 275 Members of Parliament (MPs). If you voted yesterday, then other than a presidential candidate, you also voted for a candidate that would become your constituency’s MP. What exactly is an MP supposed to do for you though?
What Does An MP Do?

A member of parliament has a legislative role during parliamentary proceedings. Basically, your MP represents you during the law making process. They consider your interests whenever new legislation is being passed or when laws are being amended.
However, MPs are also affiliated to political parties and they have to decide between their political affiliation and their constituents demands when those interests conflict.
How To Find Out Who Your MP Is

If you want to know who the MP for your constituency is, you can click on this link and enter the name of your district to get that information.
If you’re thinking about contacting your MP, one thing that you should keep in mind is that you might be better served by contacting your local Assembly Member. For example, if your problem is with services provided by your local district then your better option would be to contact your District Assembly in order to get in contact with your Assembly Member.
