The National Democratic Congress’ Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui has beaten the New Patriotic Party’s Geroge Andah to clinch Awutu Senya West parliamentary seat.
Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui is the younger sister of former Minister for Trade and Industry, Hannah Tetteh.
Mr Andah, the incumbent, polled 29,832 votes while Mrs Tetteh-Agbotui polled 32,708.
The deputy Communications Minister’s loss means he has served only one term at Member of Parliament for the constituency.
Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui was grateful to God and her constituents for the victory, describing it as a very nice 50th birthday present.
“We give God all the glory! A very nice 50th birthday present too! Thank you Awutu Senya West!” she wrote on Facebook.
