4 Heat-Free Ways Of Stretching Natural Hair

One of the beauties of having your natural hair on is the versatility that comes with it. You don’t have to always wear your hair in its coily state when you can switch things up and wear your hair straight when you feel like it. Plus, you don’t have to use heat and expose your hair to damage since you can use other methods. Here are 4 of those heat-free methods of stretching out your hair.

1. Banding

Section your hair into about 6 parts and gather all your hair bands/ties. Put the ties into oils because rubber bands tend to be very dry and the last thing you want is wrapping a dry band on your hair as it can tear your hair. Take one of the sections and hold it with a band near the scalp. Come down the hair a little and hold another part. Keep doing this until you get to the ends of your hair and just leave it. Check the image above to see what it should look like.

2. African Threading

Our mums used to do it for us when we were younger but we didn’t know how important that was till now. Even though it’s stressful, at the end, it’s always worth it. All you do is to wrap thread down and around sections of your hair. The takedown process is also an easy one.

3. Pineapple

The pineapple hairstyle isn’t just a lazy hair day style, you can also use it to stretch your roots. I would advise that when you’re about to sleep, you braid the strands of the hair left into 1 or 2 parts, depending on how much your hair is so that they don’t get knotted up.

4. Heatless blowout

This is a heatless method so you absolutely need to do this on a cool setting. Simply pull a section of hair taut and blow dry your roots, using the nozzle end on your blowdryer. This will provide instant stretch if you’re pressed for time.
