Gov’t Supports Ghana Premier League Clubs With GHC900,000

GFA President and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed the Ministry of Youth and Sports to release an amount of GHC900,000 to support the 18 Ghana Premier League clubs who have been affected by COVID-19.

In a statement from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the amount is the “first tranche of payment” and “each club will receive an amount GHC50,000.”

The Ministry explained that this has become necessary due to the previous directive by the Government for all Ghana Premier League matches to be played behind closed doors.

“Other clubs such as Division one, National Women’s League, CAF Champions League Representative and CAF Confederation Cup Representative will also receive some financial support from Government in due course,” the statement added.
