Reports according to myjoyonline indicate two persons were arrested yesterday for taking photos of Ballot papers during the special voting.
Police at the Kpeshie Divisional Headquarters in Krowor Constituency have arrested two voters believed to have taken photos of their ballot papers after voting.
The accused persons, who are currently behind bars pending investigation, have denied any wrongdoing. However, the Police maintain that evidence of the act was found on their phones.
On November 17, 2020, the Electoral Commission revealed that it will not allow voters to carry mobile phones with them to the voting booths during the 2020 General Elections.
This is part of the efforts of the commission to ensure the secrecy of the ballot – a requirement in the country’s electoral laws.
This was made known by Dr Serebour Quaicoe, the Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission.
Meanwhile, polling agents at the voting centre have expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the Special Voting exercise.
The Special Voting exercise, which took place at 311 designated voting centres located in all the 275 constituencies, was meant for people with special election day assignments.
